As a contributor to the ABRSM Jazz Piano syllabus and jazz examiner since 1999, Tim is the ideal person to run courses that de-mystify the mechanics of playing jazz, in a style that enables it to be passed from teacher to pupil. As well as being an occasional tutor on the 'Let's Teach Jazz' and 'Jazz Taster' courses run by the ABRSM, Tim has also given workshops on teaching jazz piano at the Leeds International Jazz Conference, for the European Piano Teachers Association, and for small groups of piano teachers all over the UK.

ABRSM Jazz Piano Syllabus This popular annual short course is now being offered at TWO venues in the UK, The City Lit in central London in November, and at Leeds College of Music in March. Aimed at piano teachers wishing to teach the ABRSM Jazz Piano Syllabus, this course focuses on the exam pieces in the ABRSM Grades 1‑5 Jazz Piano books, and the jazz skills required for successful candidates. No previous jazz experience is necessary, but students will prepare solo piano pieces frorn the syllabus for performance in class each week. This is the ONLY course that focusses specifically on the PIANO section of the jazz syllabus, rather than catering for teachers of all instruments. Teachers completing either course below will receive a FREE voucher from ABRSM entitling them to enter themselves or a pupil for a jazz piano exam at ANY GRADE, valid for 12 months. |
