I have over thirty years experience of teaching JAZZ PIANO, BLUES PIANO and IMPROVISATION, privately, in secondary schools, in adult education and at degree level. I have also led WORKSHOPS, for all instruments at various levels from beginners to advanced, all over the UK. I hold the Goldsmiths College - GRADUATE DIPLOMA in MUSIC TEACHING to ADULTS.
I offer tuition one-to one and also in groups at Morley College, Waterloo, London. I also teach at London City Lit and run short courses at Benslow Music, Hitchin and Premises Studios, Hackney, London. Students can also teach themselves by using my books and following accompanying online tutorial videos. Full courses are available to buy at MusicGurus.com and there are also free tutorial videos on my YouTube channel like the one below.

Even though I've been teaching and performing for over 30 years I still remember what it is like to be struggling with these topics.
I offer a sympathetic helping hand, a friendly relaxed environment, and plenty of practical tips that will directly improve your playing. The content of lessons are flexible and always taylored to the student's needs. Some people come with a clear idea of what they want to learn. Others prefer the more structured approach provided by my books 'Improvising Blues Piano' and 'Exploring Jazz Piano'. Often, a combination of both approaches works well.
*Please note I don't teach absolute beginners or young children. Most of my students already have some pianistic skills, and want to move them in more of a jazz or blues direction.
Private (one-to-one) lesson are currently £40 per hour, either ONLINE via ZOOM or at my home near Peckham Rye, London SE15. The nearest train stations are Queens Road or Peckham Rye. New Cross Gate Overground station is about 30 mins walk or a short bus ride. I am only 10 mins walk from Peckham bus station.
